Komi Store needs maintainers
I’ve been running Komi Store mostly on my own. It’s past 16,000 stars now, it’s shipped over 500,000 app updates, and there are around 72 open issues sitting in the queue. One person can’t keep up with that, and the people relying on it deserve better. So I’m putting together a small team to help run it.
What I’m looking for
Roughly four developers, and two people to help run the community. They’re pretty different jobs, so I’m treating them separately.
Developers would review and merge PRs, work through issues, and get releases out. Pick one area to focus on rather than covering everything:
- KMP architecture, networking, and data
- Android install, update, and security flows
- Desktop packaging and platform quirks
- UI, UX, and accessibility
- QA, triage, and release coordination
You don’t need to know all of it. Kotlin, KMP, or Android experience is what matters most. If none of those five is quite your thing but you still want to help, say so anyway.
Community is Discord, Reddit, Telegram, and GitHub. Answering questions, keeping threads civil, pointing bug reports at the right person, working out what’s a real issue and what isn’t. It’s steady day-to-day work, not a badge, and there are only two spots, so I’m after people who actually want to do it.
The money situation
There isn’t any. This is unpaid, volunteer open-source work. What you get is credit as a maintainer with your name on the project, and a real role in how it runs. If Komi Store ever earns enough to pay people, maintainers are first in line, but I’m not promising that will happen, and nothing here is a contract. If it ever does, it gets written down properly.
If that’s a dealbreaker, no hard feelings.
How it works
